We are a video game and hardware developer established in 2017 and based in Zagreb, Croatia.

We develop a diverse range of products, including both games and gaming hardware. Our game development efforts began with our series of interactive comics, but have since branched of into both retro-styled action games, with Speed Limit and Midwintar, and large-scale narrative-driven adventure games, with Trip the Ark Fantastic and Professor Balthasar.

On the hardware front, we are currently developing our own arcade gaming system, the Gamechuck Arcade, inspired by the coin-operated gaming machines of the ‘80s and ’90.


Our games and products have been nominated and/or awarded on many international events, some of which are: Filmteractive Warsaw, AZPlay Bilbao, Casual Connect London, Unfold Games Festival, ARCA, Zagreb Desing Week, and many more...
We also often take up interesting projects that combine gaming and social innovation and have worked on AR, VR, simulations, apps, games and hardware for various museums, NGOs and various international projects on themes such as education, inclusion, anthropology and even philosophy.
We were the first studio from Croatia selected by the prestigious Creative Europe fund back in 2019, and have also been recognized and supported by the City of Zagreb, the Ministry of Culture in Croatia, and various international cultural institutions such as Goethe Institute, Institute Français, Confucius Institute and many more.
We want to keep on making the things we love in a sustainable and productive environment, so we are working hard to foster a healthy gamedev culture - both inside and outside our offices.

SHARING IS CARING
We are the first game devleopment company in Croatia with a standing collective agreement, which, among other things, states that 10% of the company profits is shared among all workers equally.

GIVING FULL CREDIT
We give credit where credit is due - everyone who worked on our projects, whether part time or full time is credited, even if a person worked for a very short time and/or is no longer at Gamechuck. See below.

NO CRUNCH
We’re staunchly anti-crunch: our project timelines always include a safety margin for prototyping, testing and debugging to avoid any last-minute panic.

UNION FRIENDLY
Most of our employees are unionized, and we encourage them to be, as we work closely with our union representatives to build a fair and sustainable workplace.

SUSTAINABLE GROWTH
We plan to keep 50% of our profits in the company as a buffer for rainy days, to avoid the practice of layoffs after a bad financial year.

CHAMPIONING OPEN-SOURCE
We have been sponsors of several open source game development tools, and in 2021 have even released a fully public domain videogame using Godot, Krita and inkle (all of which we financially sponsored and contributed to) which you can check out on Github and on Steam as "Monster Adventure".

PROMOTING EDUCATION
We often hold education programs that promote game development, as well as lectures and workshops on GameDev MeetUps. We also collaborate with the University of Zagreb on game development programs, and on educational programs including upskilling (the Skills Power project) and edutainment (with the Udruga Roda NGO).
